admissions.
who should apply
The candidate identification process includes multiple criteria based on researched behaviors of gifted learners. We consider each application on a case-by-case basis and look for evidence of traits and characteristics of giftedness. E.A. Young Academy seeks best fit candidates for admission.
We find that gifted, talented and high ability scholars who engage in higher order thinking, hold a commitment to excellence, exhibit creative problem solving skills and a high level of curiosity are most successful in our academy culture. It doesn't hurt to have a wicked sense of humor too.

criteria used for admission

Admission to E.A. Young Academy is based on a review of many factors, including the results of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC), Differential Ability Scales (DAS), or Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI), prior academic performance, enthusiastic academic and personal recommendations, a successful guest scholar day, and the candidate's ability to positively contribute to the culture of the academy.

step three
application form
As a part of the application, you will complete a parent assessment. You also will be prompted to provide an email address for two teacher recommendations and one personal recommendation. Also, please have immunization records and the results of the WISC, DAS, WPPSI or equivalent ready to upload.

Receiving a Decision

Admissions decisions are made by an Admissions Committee who look for best fit candidates and not all candidates are admitted. We thoughtfully consider each application on a case-by-case basis, and use a variety of criteria in order to determine if this is the best learning environment for your child. The Admissions Committee cannot review applicants until all required documentation has been received and upon completion of the guest scholar day. Should a determination be made to accept your child into the program, you will receive an acceptance letter.

E.A. These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services.
