Ms. Brown joined the faculty of EA Young Academy in 2015. She became interested in the gifted & talented community after being asked to serve on EAYA’s board of directors when the school was founded. She remains an involved board member - currently serving as secretary.

While first teaching middle school at EAYA, Ms. Brown soon developed a desire to get involved with upper schoolers, accepting the appointment of advisor for House Sirius, the year EAYA implemented their House system. Although still involved in teaching middle school math, Ms. Brown also teaches ELA, US history, government/politics and economics in the upper school. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Brown enjoys being the advisor for the school’s Archery Team/Club and has been advisor for various other extra-curricular clubs during her time at EAYA.

Prior to becoming a teacher, Ms. Brown enjoyed a 15-year career working for American Airlines at its headquarters in the DFW area. As a manager in various marketing departments during her tenure, Ms. Brown brought her love for travel full circle, appreciating the opportunity to visit other countries and learning about their cultures. She continues to explore new places and find unique adventures every chance she gets with her family.

Ms. Brown’s change of career from the business world to education came as a result of becoming a mom and realizing her love for teaching her daughter. She earned her teaching certification in 2009 and has valued every minute of being in that role ever since.

Ms. Brown also volunteers with two organizations that are near and dear to her heart which uplift and promote education. She serves on the grant committee for High Tech High Heels, a not-for-profit that supports middle and high school STEAM programs for young girls in various North Texas school districts. She is also a member of PEO, an international philanthropic educational organization, that supports education for women through financial assistance.

Besides traveling and volunteering, Ms. Brown enjoys reading, Pilates, and any activity that involves the outdoors.
