joe sturgeon.

Mr. Sturgeon is a professional producer, director and award-winning playwright who has acted and directed in more than 70 productions and written 15 plays, all produced professionally for the stage. In 2010, his modern adaptation of Thomas Middleton's The Revenger's Tragedy, written for The American College Theatre Festival, was one of four plays selected nationally to be performed at The Kennedy Center.

Additionally, Mr. Sturgeon has served as a casting associate for major regional, Off-Broadway and Broadway shows. Mr. Sturgeon served as top assistant to renown choreographer David Leong, of the Society of American Fight Directors, and has extensive training in swordplay and fighting techniques for the stage. Mr. Sturgeon holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting, with a specialty in classical acting from The University of North Carolina-Greensboro, and has over a decade's experience teaching in higher education, operating as the Director of Theatre Arts at Lenoir-Rhyne College in North Carolina for 7 years.

For many years, Joe served as Resident Director and Director of Theatre for Youth at Casa Mañana Theatre in Fort Worth, and is regarded as one of the top teachers of acting for young people in the country. Joe developed, directed, and produced the national tour of Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer the Musical, based on the famous Christmas television special.

Joe's favorite job in the performing arts was when he served as an actor and stuntman in a western, riding a white horse, and plummeting off a three-story building after losing a shootout. Joe's has a history of many professional entertainment affiliations including Actor's Equity Association, The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and The Dramatists Guild.
