mckensie kreutzer.

McKensie Kreutzer joined E.A. Young Academy in 2019 and currently serves as a Middle and Upper School STEM instructor, Science Olympiad coach, and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) adviser. She is committed to the education of gifted, talented, and high-ability scholars through the use of innovative instruction.

Prior to pursuing a career in education, Ms. Kreutzer worked as a researcher at the UT Southwestern Center for the Genetics of Host Defense, under the direction of Dr. Bruce Beutler, 2011 Noble Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine. Her duties included performing DNA sequencing in an effort to locate genetic mutations that cause disease.

Previously, Ms. Kreutzer completed graduate research at the UNT Health Science Center in the lab of Dr. John Planz. Her research included characterizing several DNA loci in North American bear species using DNA sequencing technologies. For much of her research, she collaborated with the US Fish and Wildlife Forensics Laboratory.

Ms. Kreutzer's earlier work experience includes working as a Phlebotomist for Interpath Laboratories in Boise, ID, working as a Microbiologist for the Institute for Environmental Health in Nampa, ID, and serving as an undergraduate intern for the Idaho Fish and Game Wildlife Health Laboratory.

Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, College of Idaho, 2008
